Dr. Thoughts Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
Effective date: 14 October 2026
This policy applies to residents of Washington State and other US states with consumer health data laws, and to anyone whose consumer health data is processed in Washington. It adds to our Privacy Policy (drthoughts.com/privacy).
What consumer health data we collect
Dr. Thoughts is a self-reflection app, not a health service, but what you write and tap may be treated as "consumer health data" because it can reveal your mental or emotional state. That includes:
- what you write in chats, check-ins, notes and vents;
- mood taps, feelings and triggers you pick;
- insight cards, patterns and the guide's memory built from them;
- inferences the app makes from these to choose its next question (for example, that a day is hard, so it should listen rather than push).
We do not collect biometric data. Device unlock with fingerprint or face happens on your device; we never receive it.
Where it comes from
From you, as you use the app, and from what the app works out from what you wrote.
Why we collect and use it
Only to provide the service you asked for: to reply to you, keep you safe, remember context, send the reminders you turned on, and — only with your separate consent — to improve Dr. Thoughts using chats you chose to share.
Who we share it with
Only our processors listed in the Privacy Policy (Anthropic for replies and safety checks; Google Cloud and Firebase for storage and running the app), under contracts that forbid them from using it for anything else. We do not sell consumer health data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. If we ever wanted to share it beyond our processors, we would ask for your separate, explicit consent first.
Your rights
You can: confirm whether we hold your consumer health data and see it; see the list of everyone we've shared it with; withdraw consent; and have it deleted (including from our processors and backups). Use You → Account in the app, or email info@zoby.tech. We reply within 45 days. If we refuse, you can appeal by replying to our decision; if you're not satisfied with the appeal, you can contact the Washington State Attorney General.
